The all-new Peugeot 208 has won the 'Little Legend' award at the 2019 carwow New Car of the Year Awards, kicking off it's launch in style.
This adds to a number of other successes for the Peugeot brand in 2019 after being awarded JD Power awards for 'Most Reliable Brand' and 'Most Reliable Small Car' for the departing 208.

The judges panel were particularly impressed with the all-new 208's stylish design, premiuim feel and the distinctive driving experience as it saw off a number of competitors including the Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Polo and the Toyota Yaris to claim the trophy.

The all-new PEUGEOT 208 was also commended by judges for its spacious interior, which has rivals beaten on both design and technology. In addition, the all-new 208 was the only car in the category that had a choice of all three powertrains available: 100% electric, petrol or diesel.

Editorial Director at carwow, Mat Watson, said: “This may be a small car, but it’s the best new small car. Look at it. It’s cool. And it’s lovely on the inside, too. Just think how boring Polo, Fiesta and Yaris are by comparison. Oh, and it drives nice too. And is reasonably spacious. It’s ace. Plus there’s a pure electric model which has a range of 217 miles and is also ace. Oh and did I say it looked cool.”

All-New 208

With the choice of an effcient diesel or petrol powertrain as well as a 100% electric model, the all-new 208 is the first to fufil Peugeot's new philosophy of 'Choose your Peugeot, choose your powertrain'. The all-new e-208 can drive up to 217 miles (WLTP) from a single charge and uses a 50kWh battery.

The top of the range GT line trim level is available for all three of the all-new 208's, with Active and Allure the other options on offer. They also come with the most recent 3D Peugeot i-Cockpit® with a compact multifunction steering wheel, configurable 3D head-up display and a HD colour touchscreen at either 7" or 10". On top of this, the all-new 208 includes Peugeot Connect SOS and Assistance, Adapative Cruise Control (according to version) with Stop and Go function, Lane Positioning Assist and Mirror Screen® with Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto and MirrorLink® connectivity.

Orders are being taken now, with customer deliveries expected to begin soon (early 2020) and prices for the all-new 208 start from £16,250 and £25,050*, respectively.

David Peel, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said: “We’ve only just launched the all-new PEUGEOT 208, but it is clearly set for success given the positive reviews, and now award wins, it has already earned. We’ve got high expectations for the all-new PEUGEOT 208 and are very pleased to have carwow recognise it as the best small car available to buyers today. This is our first, new generation model to offer an electrified powertrain. By 2023, all our vehicles, including vans, will have either a full electric of plug-in hybrid electric powertrain.”

The carwow awards winners were chosen by carwow’s team of in-house reviewers and writers, led by Editorial Director Mat Watson, and based on what visitors to carwow are watching and reading.
